Chesterfield is just over the Derbyshire border, about fourteen miles from our base via the A617. We carry out EICRs across S40 to S45, from terraces near the town centre and the crooked spire to homes in Brimington, Staveley, Hasland and Walton.
Every EICR is carried out to BS 7671 by Westgate's own Level 3 qualified electricians. We never sub-contract, so the person who tests your property is the person who signs the report. Prices are fixed by property size and include VAT and the written report. The full price list is on this page.
Housing in Chesterfield and what we usually find
Chesterfield's housing is a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the centre, Newbold and Hasland, large inter-war and post-war council estates, former colliery villages such as Staveley, and larger period homes in Walton and Ashgate.
- Terraces let to tenants are often due for their first EICR since the 2020 rules came in, and older lighting circuits and missing bonding are common findings.
- Former council and colliery homes often have a consumer unit replacement but older circuits behind it.
- Larger period homes in Walton may have more than eighteen circuits and need a quote rather than a standard price.
None of these findings is automatic. Every circuit is tested on the day and coded on its own merits: C1 for danger present, C2 for potentially dangerous, C3 for improvement recommended, and FI where something needs further investigation. Any C1 is made safe before we leave. Read more in our guide to EICR codes.
Landlords in Chesterfield
Chesterfield Borough Council is the local housing authority. Private landlords need an EICR at least every five years, a copy for each tenant, and remedial work completed within 28 days of the report. The rules are the same in Derbyshire as in Nottinghamshire, and so are our fixed prices.
See our landlord EICR page for the full list of legal duties, or the HMO EICR page if the property is let to three or more people who share facilities.
