Retford is the furthest north of our regular Nottinghamshire towns, about twenty miles from Mansfield Woodhouse. We cover DN22, including Ordsall, Clarborough, Elkesley and the villages off the A1.
Every EICR is carried out to BS 7671 by Westgate's own Level 3 qualified electricians. We never sub-contract, so the person who tests your property is the person who signs the report. Prices are fixed by property size and include VAT and the written report. The full price list is on this page.
Housing in Retford and what we usually find
Retford is an old market town with Georgian and Victorian buildings around the Market Square, terraces close to the Chesterfield Canal and the railway, inter-war and post-war semis in Ordsall, and newer estates on the edge of town.
- Market-town properties often have shops below and flats above, with installations that have been altered many times.
- Terraces and semis commonly have older consumer units and lighting circuits without an earth.
- Rural properties in the villages may have long underground supplies to outbuildings, garden offices or stables, and these need testing too.
None of these findings is automatic. Every circuit is tested on the day and coded on its own merits: C1 for danger present, C2 for potentially dangerous, C3 for improvement recommended, and FI where something needs further investigation. Any C1 is made safe before we leave. Read more in our guide to EICR codes.
Landlords in Retford
Bassetlaw District Council covers Retford. Private landlords follow the same national rules as the rest of England: an EICR at least every five years, copies for tenants and the council, and remedial work within 28 days if the report is unsatisfactory.
See our landlord EICR page for the full list of legal duties, or the HMO EICR page if the property is let to three or more people who share facilities.
