We cover Newark-on-Trent and its villages from our base in Mansfield Woodhouse, about twenty miles away. That includes NG24, the new estates at Fernwood and Balderton, and the villages along the A46 and A1.
Every EICR is carried out to BS 7671 by Westgate's own Level 3 qualified electricians. We never sub-contract, so the person who tests your property is the person who signs the report. Prices are fixed by property size and include VAT and the written report. The full price list is on this page.
Housing in Newark and what we usually find
Newark has an unusual mix of housing for a market town: Georgian and Victorian town houses in and around the conservation area, terraces near the river and the old maltings, post-war estates, and a lot of new-builds at Fernwood and Middlebeck.
- Period town-centre properties have often been converted into flats or rewired in stages. Spread-out wiring and older accessories mean careful inspection, especially in shops with flats above.
- Post-war estates often have older consumer units and incomplete bonding.
- New-build estates at Fernwood and Balderton usually test well, but landlords still need a fresh EICR once the builder's certificate is five years old.
None of these findings is automatic. Every circuit is tested on the day and coded on its own merits: C1 for danger present, C2 for potentially dangerous, C3 for improvement recommended, and FI where something needs further investigation. Any C1 is made safe before we leave. Read more in our guide to EICR codes.
Landlords in Newark
Newark and Sherwood District Council is the local housing authority. Private landlords in Newark need a satisfactory EICR every five years, a copy for each tenant, and a copy for the council within seven days if asked. Shops with flats above usually need the shop's and the flat's installations inspected separately. We can quote both together.
See our landlord EICR page for the full list of legal duties, or the HMO EICR page if the property is let to three or more people who share facilities.
